Christmas, one of the most important and important dates in the calendar, is approaching. And this year you must live it in a special and different way. Caleta de Fuste, once again, will host the most visited Christmas market in Fuerteventura. Every Friday in December, from the 6th to the 27th of this month, the Plaza de El Castillo is filled with stalls selling handicrafts, clothes, accessories and typical gastronomy of the island. In addition, it will be livened up with live music, performances, games and activities for the whole family.
In the town of Tetir you can find original and varied gifts for this Christmas. The village square is filled with ceramic products, palm leaves or aloe vera products. The little ones will enjoy camel or pony rides and inflatable castles. The market of the Vega de Tetir is the perfect place to meet family or friends on the second Sunday of the month and enjoy live performances of popular Canarian music.
The municipality of Tuineje is filled with colouful lights to welcome Christmas. This year there’s also an extensive program of activities and workshops for all ages. Puppets, parades, inflatable castles, concerts or night parties will fill the streets of the main villages of the town.
Gran Tarajal will install an ice rink in the Parque Félix López which will be available from 19 to 31 December. All these activities will culminate on the 5th of January with the spectacular and awaited Cavalcade of the Kings. A few days before, the pages will be collecting the letters from all the children.
Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
The Fuerteventura’s youngest ones have an date on the nights of 24th and 31st December in different parts of the island. The first of them, the Gran Tarajal Fairground, prepares a free party animated by musical groups and DJs.
To bid farewell to the year, young ones can repeat in Gran Tarajal or attend the New Year’s Eve macro-party in Puerto del Rosario, which is held in the Plaza de La Paz. The traditional ventorrillos or chiringuitos have everything you need to spend an unforgettable end of the year.
Visiting the island plus the activities, workshops, flea markets and Christmas parties can leave us exhausted. That’s why there’s nothing better than feeling at home when it comes to resting. El Cotillo and Tenicosquey are two of the perfect places in Fuerteventura to charge your batteries for the days that remain.
In El Cotillo you can stroll through the streets of one of Fuerteventura’s most special and beautiful fishing villages, as well as taste the fresh fish of the day. It is inevitable not to feel calm and in peace thanks to the sound of the waves.
