Guide for your holidays in Fuerteventura this 2020
The Canary Islands is one of the best destinations to travel to at any time of the year. However, the most west-facing islands (Tenerife, La Palma and Gran Canaria) experience rains, something that does not happen in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. In these two islands the sun stays throughout the year and this makes them the ideal islands to visit at any time of the year. But, you still don’t know when to prepare your trip to Fuerteventura? We give you the keys to make up your mind and choose the best time for you.
Travel to Fuerteventura in winter
Winter is perhaps the best time to visit Fuerteventura and enjoy your holidays in 2020. The temperature continues to be warm but most importantly, you will be alone on many of the beaches and you will be able to enjoy the activities that Fuerteventura offers as the influx of Tourism during the winter months is less.
However, the leisure offer is completely the same, and you can have a different view of the island because the passers-by you see are probably the majoreros who live on the island.
What can you do in winter?
- Fuerteventura’s main attraction is its beaches and the temperatures invite you to take a walk and even take a bath. However, the bravest are the ones who dare since the water is quite cold and staying in the water for a while is not suitable for everyone.
- Visit their villages. Fuerteventura has many towns, very charming. In the north, we recommend El Cotillo, Corralejo or Lajares. Puerto del Rosario, capital of the island of Fuerteventura, is a must-see. Nearby you can visit Betancuria, the least populated town, but it does not have less charm, it was the old capital of the island and has a great history. And in the southern area we recommend: Gran Tarajal, Ajui, Costa Calma or Morro Jable.
- Do hiking trails. Winter is the best time to do hiking trails both on foot and by bike. The warm but not very high temperatures allow you to hike without suffering on the way due to the heat and the sun.
- If you visit the island between October and December, dare to surf, since it is the time that professionals recommend to go into the water and ride the waves of the Atlantic.
What do I have to know before I go?
- The average temperature in the winter months is 20ºC maximum and 14ºC minimum.
