Tenicosquey is in the eastern area of Fuerteventura , a natural and desert landscape in which nature is the only protagonist. In the fifteenth century, settlers began to populate Tenicosquey, and the mahos used this natural space as a passageway. They preferred to settle in more sheltered and elevated areas.

The vegetation is scarce, but its geographical location, the valleys and the “knife-like” sharp volcanic ridges make Tenicosquey one of the most special spaces in Fuerteventura.
The few houses that remain today are used for tourist accomodations.
